You're a Value, Not a Discount

How often do you step back and think about your value to our world? I really believe that we all have an import job to play in "our worlds." We all hold value.

Today, I'm going to encourage you to say this mantra: I have value.

You do. The people around you, your friends, your family, the stranger you bump into at the mall, all rely upon the goodness and respectability of you. You have value.

Another part of seeing your value is standing up for your needs and wants. If you're anything like me, you try to help a lot of folks, are tuned into the needs of others and sometimes forget about your own. I have also found myself in life feeling like I'm being walked on or taken advantage of. Part of knowing your value is knowing when to say, "no thanks." Sometimes wishing people well and moving on is knowing our value. This is not always easy, but super important in being true to ourselves.

When we recognize that we have value, we are also saying to ourselves, "I have power and choice in this world." We might not get to choose some of the things that happen to us, but we can certainly choose the attitude we take, what we allow in and what we choose to keep out. This is your power and voice in the world.

Do you know anyone that might not see this in themselves? Tell them. Of any age. Need your own reminders? Write it on a bathroom mirror. Stick it on a post it. Write it on a Facebook wall. Tweet it. Embrace it! For the love of all that is good and holy - support and encourage each other. Tell a friend she or he has value.

I have value. So do you.
